At Jubilee Daycare, we believe in celebrating the uniqueness of every child, and this March, our celebration took on a particularly bright and beautiful form. On March 21st, we joined the global community in honouring World Down Syndrome Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness and understanding. But our commitment didn’t end there—throughout the month, we embarked on a special project that brought together our love for nature and the nurturing of young minds. 🌻 Sunflowers and Smiles: A Project of Growth As part of our World Down Syndrome Day activities, our children had the joy of planting their very own sunflowers. With tiny hands digging in the soil and little hearts full of excitement, each child carefully planted seeds that would soon blossom into something magnificent. Now, as we look around our nursery, we are greeted by the vibrant yellow petals of these sunflowers, each one a testament to the care and dedication of our young gardeners. These sunflowers have become more than just a pretty sight—they are a living symbol of growth, diversity, and the unique journey each child takes. Just as no two sunflowers are exactly alike, our children are all growing and flourishing in their own wonderful ways. This project has not only brightened up our nursery but also served as a reminder of the beauty that comes from nurturing and patience. 🌳 Lessons in Life and Learning Watching the sunflowers grow has been a rewarding experience for our children. From planting the seeds to watering them daily, they’ve learned the importance of responsibility, patience, and the joy that comes from seeing their efforts bloom into something tangible and beautiful. This charming and energetic song never fails to bring smiles and laughter to our Dinky Diamonds. "Sleeping Bunnies" is more than just a song; it encourages our toddlers to participate and get moving. As they pretend to be sleeping bunnies, they eagerly anticipate the moment when they can hop up and dance around. The joy on their faces is priceless! Our Dinky Diamonds love to add their own twist to the song, often asking for new versions of the verses. Whether it's sleeping crocodiles, lion, or even dinosaurs, their creativity knows no bounds. This customization keeps the activity fresh and exciting, allowing children to express their imagination and individuality. Engaging in songs like "Sleeping Bunnies" offers numerous benefits for toddlers: Physical Activity:  Hopping and dancing help develop gross motor skills and coordination. At Jubilee Day Nursery, we believe that learning goes beyond the classroom. It's about creating experiences that not only educate but also inspire curiosity and community awareness. Recently, our children in Treetops had an extraordinary opportunity to interact with local heroes from the Thames Valley Police. This visit was not just exciting for the children but also an invaluable educational experience. The day began with eager anticipation as the children prepared to meet the officers. Many of our young learners may not fully understand what police officers do, so this visit was a perfect way to introduce them to the vital role these officers play in keeping our community safe. The officers started by introducing themselves and explaining their jobs in simple, child-friendly terms. They talked about how they help people, what to do in an emergency, and how they work to keep everyone safe. The children listened intently, their eyes wide with fascination as they learned about the duties of a police officer. The highlight of the visit was undoubtedly the hands-on experience of exploring a real police vehicle. The children were invited to see the police car up close, and they were thrilled to sit inside and touch the various controls. The officers demonstrated the use of different equipment, including the lights and sirens, which brought big smiles and a lot of excitement! This visit was not only about meeting police officers; it was an opportunity to spark curiosity and foster a deeper understanding of safety and community. The children asked countless questions, eager to learn more about what the officers do and how they can help in their own small ways. Learning through play is a core part of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), and this visit perfectly encapsulated that philosophy. Yesterday was an exciting day at Jubilee Day Nursery as both children and staff came dressed in their best farmer-inspired outfits! From vibrant checked shirts to straw hats and dungarees, the nursery was transformed into a colourful farmyard. The children were full of excitement, proudly showing off their outfits and embracing the day's theme. Our little ones didn’t just look the part - they dove right into farm life! Throughout the day, they explored a wide range of fruits and vegetables, engaging all their senses by planting, chopping, feeling, and even smelling the different produce. This hands-on experience allowed them to understand where our food comes from in a fun and interactive way. In addition to their sensory play, the children were introduced to farm machinery and tools, sparking conversations about how farms operate. We also shared some engaging farm-themed stories, bringing everything to life through books and storytelling. It was a fantastic day filled with laughter, learning, and exploration. We love creating these themed days at Jubilee Day Nursery, as they offer such rich opportunities for children to learn through play and discovery.
