In our new outdoor climbing play space we have introduced a set of monkey bars… and believe it or not, they are brilliant for supporting children's handwriting! ✏️ Monkey bars require strong grip, coordination and control. When a child holds on and hangs, they strengthen the small muscles in their fingers and hands, as well as their shoulders and core. All of these muscles play a key role when learning to hold a pencil with confidence. Swinging from bar to bar also involves a great deal of hand-eye coordination, which is another essential element of handwriting development. These skills start developing so early in play and it’s fascinating to see how something as fun and simple as monkey bars can have such an impact on cursive writing in Year 3 and beyond! 💛 Play really does have purpose. ~ Jubilee Day Nursery

Jubilee Gems had such a lovely morning visiting The Little Play Lounge! 🌿 The children enjoyed exploring the beautiful play space, getting creative with the role-play café, building together, and enjoying all the little details that make the lounge so special. Woodpeckers and Kingfishers have been busy embracing all things autumn this week - with two different but equally exciting pumpkin-themed activities! ✨ In Woodpeckers, the children climbed aboard 'The Pumpkin Express' - sending their trains through a spooky pumpkin tunnel and exploring all the autumn treasures along the track. Meanwhile, our Kingfishers mixed up a pumpkin potion, using sticks to stir and scoop through the seeds and pulp, discovering new textures, smells and sounds along the way. Both activities encouraged plenty of curiosity, sensory exploration and imaginative play - all wrapped up in the magic of the season! 🎃🍂

Our little explorers have been busy investigating autumn treasures 🍂 Using magnifying glasses and natural materials, they discovered textures, shapes and patterns while learning through play 🔍✨ ~ Jubilee Day Nursery 🌳

Little Sparkles took part in a pumpkin and autumn-themed sensory tray! 🎃 They explored oats, cinnamon sticks, pinecones and autumn leaves - scooping, pouring and feeling the different textures while chatting about the sights and smells of autumn. The Orchards children have been exploring their focus of 'Rain' through a fun, hands-on water play activity! Using pipettes, colanders and funnels, they created their own rain showers, waterfalls and splashes – with blue-tinted water for that pop of colour and shaving foam clouds floating on top. Through this sensory play, the children developed: 🌧️ Fine motor skills - squeezing, pouring and scooping. 💧 Scientific thinking - exploring cause and effect as the “rain” fell. ☁️ Language and imagination - describing drizzle, pour and splash! A splash-tastic way to make learning about the weather fun and meaningful 🌦️💦 ~ Jubilee Day Nursery 🌳

The Treetops pre-school children have been exploring their sticks and leaves theme in a creative and unique way 🍂 Instead of using paper for paper-mâché, they used leaves collected on their woodland walk - bringing nature right into their art! 🎨 ~ Jubilee Day Nursery 🌳

Dinky Diamonds have been embracing the cosy spirit of autumn with a seasonal sensory tray 🍁 Using treasures from their farm trips and nursery finds, children explored sight, touch, smell and sound - shaking conker shakers, sprinkling cocoa, crunching leaves and tasting raisins.
