This week at Jubilee Day Nursery, our curious little learners in the Pre-School 'TreeTops' room have been diving into the exciting world of volcanoes! The children got hands-on with their very first paper mâché project, carefully crafting volcano shapes around bottles filled with fizzy cola. Once their creations dried, they let their creativity shine by painting them. The best part? Dropping in some mints and watching their volcanoes erupt with a fizzy explosion! Our Rising 2's are thriving in the great outdoors - building stamina, confidence, and curiosity as they explore the farm, track, and woods! 🌳 From splashing through muddy puddles to spotting chickens on the farm, every step is a new adventure in learning and discovery. Whether it’s soft grass or squishy mud, each terrain helps our little explorers grow braver and more curious. Safety is always our priority! At Jubilee Daycare, we believe in hands-on learning experiences that connect our children to the natural world. This time of year, our farm comes alive with an exciting event that the children look forward to—shearing season! 🌞 This year, the children had a woolly good time observing in the shearing process. Watching the sheep receive their summer trims was not only a unique experience but also an educational one. The children were captivated as they learned about the incredible journey of wool—from the sheep’s back to a wide array of sustainable uses. ♻️ Shearing is much more than just a haircut for the sheep. We took the opportunity to explain to the children how this practice plays a vital role in keeping our sheep cool and comfortable during the warmer months. They were fascinated to learn that shearing also helps maintain the sheep’s health by reducing the risk of parasitic infestations and diseases—something we all certainly want to avoid! By engaging with this process, the children gained a deeper understanding of animal care and sustainable farming practices. It’s moments like these that bring our curriculum, forest school, to life, fostering a sense of responsibility and appreciation for the world around us. The outdoors plays a vital role in our nurseries, offering endless opportunities for growth under the natural light of the sun. We believe that fresh air and physical activity prepare our bodies for learning. Running, jumping, climbing, exploring, discovering, seeing, smelling, and touching nature helps us refine our gross and fine motor skills, allowing us to release energy in an immersive environment. 🌟 Outdoor play builds confidence and fosters an appreciation for the world around us. As children explore various habitats and creatures, they learn to care for our planet. Feeling the different textures of rocks, sticks, leaves, and mud, and smelling the flowers, herbs, and wildlife, provides a rich sensory experience that enhances their development. 🌱 We encourage children to take risks in their play, ensuring they are in a safe and supportive environment. This allows them to make decisions, seize opportunities, and act on their impulses. We understand that learning must extend beyond the four walls of a nursery room for children’s development to fully flourish. Join our Orchards children - the Ladybirds, and Bumblebees groups as they spend their morning in our woods and farmland, discovering all that nature has to offer and finding joy in the little things. ~ Jubilee Day Nursery 🌳

Did you know that Jubilee Daycare is situated on 60 acres of land - with our very own woodland and farm? We aim for our children to take a walk to the woods and visit our farm every single day, exploring the great outdoors - as fresh air is critical for healthy, strong bodies and minds! I joined Woodlands on one of their walks and saw wanted to share everything they got up to on the way! They played with nature, made music running sticks along a fence, said hello to our onsite donkeys, spotted cool plants and leaves and splashed in muddy puddles before arriving to the farm and saying hello to all of our animals! This enchanting little corner is a haven for creativity, imagination, and development - perfect for the inquisitive minds of our children. Every element of Nature’s Nook is brimming with opportunities to explore, experiment, and grow. It’s more than just a play area; it’s an open-ended learning environment where children can: Count and measure : Numeracy sneaks into every nook and cranny, from weighing and balancing to comparing and sorting. Bake and cook : With tools to inspire imaginative role play, children can mix, measure, and create just like real chefs. Build and break : encouraging constructive play, teaching resilience and problem-solving. Pour, tip, and mix : Water and sensory play provide endless moments of discovery and fun. Climb, balance, and explore : From physical challenges to nature-inspired adventures, there’s something to engage every sense. Organise and collect : Perfect for little ones who love sorting, arranging, and making sense of the world around them. The possibilities are limitless - and we can already see how much joy and inspiration this new space is bringing to our children. They’ve dived right in, creating, discovering, and imagining to their hearts’ content.
